Please read the following carefully to ensure the satisfactory and safe operation of the lights. USING YOUR NEW LIGHTS: Carefully remove the lights from the display packaging. Slide or press the switch from the ‘OFF’ to ‘ON’ position. Place in desired location. Ensure that the solar panel is placed in direct sunlight for 6-8 hours. The solar light will automatically turn on at dusk and shut off at dawn. To turn the light & solar panel off completely, slide or press the switch to the ‘OFF’ position. Solar powered lights work by recharging their built in battery daily from electricity converted from sunlight via the solar panel. The lights are turned on automatically by a sensor at night. The more sunlight the sensor receives in the day, the longer the lights will operate that night. Operating time will vary by specific location and amount of sunlight received, so ensure that the sensor is positioned in a location that will receive good sunlight during the day and is not shaded by buildings or trees etc. Keep the solar panel clear of dust, snow and debris. Clean it with a soft damp cloth periodically. Do not use corrosive cleaning agents or chemical solutions. The selected location should not be near night time light sources such as a porch light or street lights, as these may cause the solar light to turn off prematurely. Do not charge behind glass. Always take care when setting up Stake Lights if the ground is very hard - sometimes watering the ground a little and allowing it to soak in can make it easier to put the stake in. FOR YOUR SAFETY: Do not operate in packaging. Do not allow any part to come into contact with excessive heat or naked flame. This product is not a toy. Keep pets away from these lights and ensure that children are supervised and do not play with them. BATTERIES USED: Each light uses 1 x 1.2V AA 300mAh Ni-MH Rechargeable Replaceable Battery (INCLUDED). Replace with a battery of the same size each year for optimum performance. To remove and replace use a screwdriver to open battery compartment. Insert 1 battery into the compartment making sure the polarity (+/-) is as indicated. Only replace with rechargeable batteries of the type stated. Replace the battery cover ensuring it is securely fastened. Always remove spent batteries. Never allow children to attempt to replace batteries, this should always be done by an adult. Never attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. Supply terminals are not to be short circuited. Recycle used batteries responsibly. Do not dispose of in household waste. As with any rechargeable battery, the period of time that the battery will hold charge will decrease during the life of the battery. If the item is not to be used for an extended period, it is recommended that the unit is switched off to preserve the batteries. To prolong the life of the product, it is recommended to store the product indoors in a dry location during the winter months.
