Description
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse...
And so begins our heart-warming tale, inspired by the world famous poem by Clement C. Moore.
On a cold, wintry Christmas Eve day, a mouse family is bulldozed from their underground home and forced onto the streets to find new accommodation. Cold and homeless, as desperation sets in and Mama Mouse hurts her ankle, Papa decides to break his big rule - never associate with humans!
As Charles Atwell reads "The Night Before Christmas" to his two children at bedtime, the mouse family arrive at the Atwell home and take a peek at their decorated living room. Amazed at the enormous Christmas tree and beautifully bright decorations, Skip and Squeek sneak out of bed and into the Atwell living room whilst their parents are sleeping, to discover what Christmas is all about.
Chased by the Atwell's pet cat, the two mice climb to the top of the Christmas tree, encountering decorative ornaments and characters that magically come to life, each offering a different interpretation of the meaning of Christmas. Amidst this enchanting spectacle, they meet an elf, who then explains that Christmas is all about the arrival of Santa Claus and the giving of presents. Suddenly - thud! Santa's sleigh lands on the roof with a song and he delivers his gifts.
Excited and overwhelmed, Skip and Squeek continue to the top of the tree, where they meet an angel, who tells them the store of the first Christmas and highlights its real meaning. They then return to Mama and Papa, and the mouse family huddle together for their own Christmas poem.
