BUOYANCY AID FOR SWIMMING Make sure the swimming jacket fits snugly with all the floats in position. When zipped up the neoprene should stretch around the wearer for a snug fit. Buoyancy should be adjusted according to the wearer’s weight, confidence and swimming ability. Over buoyancy can cause the wearer to be too high in the water. It may be necessary to remove some of the floats.  Floats should be removed from the jacket in pairs only, and always in numerical order as indicated on the jacket, i.e, remove both floats marked “1” first, then, if over buoyancy persists, remove floats marked with a “2”, then proceed to remove floats marked “3” and lastly the floats marked “4”. Removing all the floats from the jacket will mean the jacket provides no extra buoyancy.
